A woman suffered minor injuries from jumping through a bus window after she mistakenly thought the vehicle was on fire in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

The woman, surnamed Hu, ended up with cuts to her arms and head after smashing the large window with an emergency hammer and jumping through it. She said she'd smelled burning and thought the bus was going to "spontaneously combust".

"I may have made the wrong call," Hu said.

The bus driver pulled over and evacuated after the incident. No signs of fire were found.

Li Ou, head of security for the bus company, explained that cases involving passengers breaking glass to escape have occurred every summer for the past three years.
