Three students expelled from a high school in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province were shocked to see photos of themselves with the label 'terrorists' posted at the school gate.
According to the Nanning Daily, one of the students, surnamed Liu, was not even expelled. He told the paper that he had dropped out. "I just came by to see some of my classmates the other day. Then the class leader reported me to the school. I didn't realize until the day that our photos were posted in the security room and there was this note that said that we were terrorists," he said.
Liu snapped a picture of the sign and uploaded it to Weibo, where it went viral. Many commenters exoriated the school for slandering the reputation of the students, saying that expelled or not, they did not deserve to be labelled terrorists.
Security guards at the school told reporters the photos were posted so they could recognise expelled students and stop them from coming on to the premises. School officials claimed they did not instruct the guards to post the photos, but only gave them to them for reference purposes.
