Visitors to the tomb of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) prince Zhu Chengyong (1458-1498) in Xi'an's Chang'an District have recently been shocked to find the ancient cultural relics covered in mountains of trash and dead leaves.

The 516-year-old statues of scholars, horses, lions and Qilin are all designated cultural relics that fall under the protection of the ancient capital's cultural heritage bureau.
