The giant rabbit created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman for Taoyuan's Land Art Festival has been burned to a crisp in an accidental fire that occurred after the festival closed last night.

Investigation are currently ongoing and a cause hs not been determined for the fire. However, firefighters believe it may have been started when sparks from nearby welding to disassemble festival structures set alight weeds surrounding Moon Rabbit. Over two millions visitors to the festival got to admire the latest Hofman's endless series of supersized animals.

Coming after the stormy demise of Hofman's giant yellow duck in Guiyang this July, when heavy rains washed the duck away and the provincial government set up a 24-hour hotline and offered cash rewards for information on his whereabouts, whispers now circulate online of a "Curse of the Yellow Duck."

The horror! The horror!
