Typhoon Haima made landfall in the Pearl River Delta today, bringing with it rain, wind and some ominous-looking clouds.

Although the storm didn’t ‘officially’ start until the early afternoon, wind-related havoc began at 9.27am this morning, when a woman in Shekou was injured by a falling tree, according to Tencent News.

An ambulance rushed to the scene and the victim was transported to hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries.

Another individual was injured just over an hour later by falling tree branches at the Meilin Metro Station.

Haima, which was originally classified as a super typhoon when it visited the Philippines on Wednesday, was downgraded to a regular typhoon as wind speeds dropped from 200 kilometers per hour to 145.

Authorities are asking people to use caution and avoid non-essential outdoor activities, while Shenzhen's Metro was partially shut down today in preparation for the storm.
