Shenzhen Fashion Week is just about ready to take over the city with new designs, the latest trends and all things vogue. The event will take place from March 18 to 25 in the city’s creative hub – OCT Harbour.
The second annual event, which is notable for its East meets West aesthetic fusions, is expected to feature works by over 200 designers, all brilliantly displayed in a large 6,000 square meter area, according to China Daily.
At least 10,000 guests are predicted to attend the fashion feast, including industry experts, members of the media, traders and models. A wild mix of glitterati will likely be in attendance, although no word yet on whether iconic male model Derek Zoolander will make an appearance (our fingers are crossed).
According to event organizers, this year’s show will feature a considerable number of new designs and styles, including works by local fashion artists.
Shenzhen, one of UNESCO's Cities of Design, may not be in the world’s fashion headlines just yet, but the young ambitious city has quickly grasped the ropes of fashionizing and is on the glamorous road to becoming one of the country’s major fashion hubs. With around 3,000 garment companies and the exports from the industry totaling at a whopping USD10 billion in 2014, Shenzhen is clearly on the right track.
So, fashionistas, trendsetters and everyone cursing their closet in the morning for having nothing to wear – don’t miss the coming highlights from this year’s event.
