If you live in Jing’an, no need to trek over to Henan Lu for your favorite smoked meat sandwich: Tock’s Montreal-style deli is opening up a new location in Nanjing Xi Lu’s Shanghai Centre next month.

We also hear Wolfgang Puck is spreading his far-reaching tendrils to our fair city very shortly, with a new restaurant in Xintiandi.

Residents up near Yangpu may delight in hearing a new branch of popular Xinjiang restaurant Xibo has opened. Airy, contemporary and decidedly classy inside, Xibo specializes in richly spiced, lamb-heavy dishes (pictured below) native to north-western China.

Italian restaurant Casalingo is hosting ‘eat your way through Italy’ – a special a la carte menu from now until June 30, every night from 6 to 10pm. RMB100-400 per person.

Table No.1 is finally open again! Make your reservations from now onwards, or head to sister restaurant The Commune Social on Thursday April 9, when international chef-cum-mogul Jason Atherton will be manning the kitchen for one night only with head chef Scott Melvin.

Going head-to-head with local chicken rotisserie stalwarts Brasa, Wishbone has opened up on 888 Changde Lu by Changping Lu. Yes it’s three times the price of Brasa, but it’s trendy and gourmet - that counts for something, right?

Our favorite gay bar 390 got shut down by the authorities for their risqué male strippers dancers. Luckily they’ve opened again under a different name – Lucca. Still gay as ever, apparently. We spoke to Sacco, ex- manager of the bar who told us; “We got shut down for having our male dancers, and our manager had to spend a month in jail with no contact with her family. It’s unclear why we were targeted, but it looks likely that our competitor tipped off the authorities to have us inspected.”

The Shanghai Brewery on Hengshan Lu is NOT closing; it was a vicious, vicious rumor. On the contrary, they’re opening a new location on buzzing Donghu Lu this month. Keep your eyes peeled for a review soon.

Having undergone a much-needed makeover following Chinese New Year, Bar Rouge is back. Grand opening party on April 10, and Disclosure night on April 9.

Drinker’s Club, a new villa bar has opened up at 17 Yongfu Lu. Open from Weds-Sunday, the focus is on craft beer, with a gorgeous terrace out back too.

Lastly, heavy metal bar Inferno is back in business again. Rock on.
