Staying in town for the holidays? We've compiled a list of the biggest holiday feasts in town so your Christmas can be celebrated in full.

Pre-Christmas Dinners

The Bull and Claw

London born Chef Hardeep Somal presents a very special English Christmas themed menu with a touch of Bull and Claw style. An indulgent selection of traditional and modern combine to make this the perfect menu for couples, colleagues, families or simply anyone who loves celebrating Christmas. The three course menu is available for RMB348. Enjoy 2 hours of free flow for an additional RMB188. Book ahead to secure a seat.

Gui Hua Lou

For the entire month of December, Gui Hua Lou offers an elegant 8 course lunch set for RMB588 and a 10 course dinner set for RMB888, which includes free flow Chinese wine, beer and soft drinks. Prices are subject to a 10-percent service charge and 6-percent VAT. The meals have been meticulously prepared in authentic Huiyangese and Shanghainese styles.

TGIFriday's

From Dec 20 to Jan 2, seasonal Christmas offerings will be available. A surf and turf limited edition menu includes a glass of select wine for RMB268.

HE

Located on the fifth floor of Wanda Reign on the Bund, HE Japanese Restaurant serves authentic Japanese cuisine prepared using fresh, imported ingredients, cooked with sophisticated craftsmanship by the chefs. During December 23-25, enjoy a special 11-course Omasake dinner served by Chef Kikuchi Yoshiyuki. The dinner is priced at RMB2,888 for two persons. The above price is subject to a 10-percent service charge and a 6-percent VAT.

Mr. and Mrs. Bund offers festive dinner menus from December 21 to January 1, 5.30-10.30pm. Sharing menus begin at RMB888 per person. Regular a la carte options are available as well.

Pie Society

For a little bit of Yuletide cheer without going the whole hog (or should that be turkey?), hightail it down to Pie Society, where they’ve literally “put Christmas in a pie.” Their seasonal ‘Merry Berry’ pie (named after beloved Brit baking icon, Mary Berry) features turkey, bacon, and stuffing, and is topped with a dollop of Amelia’s cranberry jam. They also have a vegetarian version filled with chestnut, parsnip, cheddar cheese, spinach, and chickpeas, along with a Dad-approved Angus beef, Stilton, parsnip and carrot number, topped with port gravy. Oh, and did we mention they do delivery through Sherpas?

Pistolera

Do Christmas up big—Mexican style—this year with a Las Posadas and Christmas Party at Pistolera. RMB150 for adults and RMB80 for kids 4-12 (4 and under are free) includes all you can eat tamales and other authentic Mexican classics with fruit ponche.

Blue Frog

The BREW

In addition to its weekly weekend brunch, The BREW is getting into the spirit of the holidays with a Christmas Eve and Day dinner for RMB428 per person that includes free flow juice and craft beer. Children are RMB214 each. The above prices are subject to a 10-percent service charge and 6-percent VAT.

Cachet

For Christmas dinner, Cachet at the Langham is offering a RMB488 buffet that includes unlimited mulled wine, eggnog, soft drinks and juice. Children 12 and under are half price. While you eat, enjoy a performance by Akia.

Café Reign

Prepared at Café Reign’s open kitchen, this Christmas Eve buffet includes elegant favorites like roast beef salad, mixed mushroom soup in truffle oil, foie gras, ficus, French oysters, citrus and herb-cured salmon, cream lobster soup, roast rib eye steak, and turkey with spices. The dessert menu consists of yule log, Christmas pie and gingerbread houses. The buffet is priced at RMB888 per person plus a 10-percent service fee and 6-percent VAT.

Cachet

Enjoy a fine dining experience this Christmas Eve with a dinner buffet at Cachet. RMB1288 includes a glass of champagne, unlimited mulled wine, eggnog, soft drinks and juice. There will be a lucky draw and a performance by Akia as well as giveaways to children from Santa Claus himself.

Chi-Q

Two guests can enjoy a signature appetizer such as Korean fried chicken wings or king crab mushroom soup, a festive grand basket and a dessert for RMB598 per person plus a 10-percent service charge.

The COOK

The COOK origins display a spread for the Christmas holidays very suited for a family celebration. Enjoy a buffet dinner at from 5.30-8pm for RMB428 for adults and RMB214 for children. The second seating is RMB328 and RMB164 for adults and children respectively.

Cupola

Cupola’s elegant 8 Christmas menu includes chilled Gillardeau oysters, beluga caviar, New England clam chowder, pan fried foie fras, seared scallops, baked half Maine lobster risotto, wagyu beef and a dessert of chocolate chestnut mousse. The dinner is priced at RMB2,800 per person. RMB10,000 includes one bottle of champagne, a wine pairing, a violin session and flowers. Both prices are subject to a 10-percent service charge.

The Cut

For Christmas, the Cut has prepared two specially-crafted menus, the first priced at RMB888 for two persons and the second at RMB1,088 for two. The first set includes unlimited access to the seasonal salad bar plus five spice shredded duck confit, sesame yellow fin tuna tataki, Australia black angus tenderloin, seared black cod warp prosciutto, panacotta, sesame ice cream and more. The second menu comes with all the favorites from the first as well as 1.2kg dry aged 30 days Australian grain fed tomahawk. Add RMB100 to either menu for a glass of champagne.

Jade on 36

Herald the festive feasting while taking in the awe-inspiring views of the dazzling Shanghai skyline from Jade on 36, and relish specially crafted menus by Chef de Cuisine Jeremy Biasiol, paired with exceptional handpicked wines. The 8-course degustation dinner is RMB688 per person or RMB988 with the wine pairing.

Jean Georges

JR Recipe


Double Christmas packages are available, which includes Norway cod, Canadian ribeye seak, a class of warm Christmas wine and a chocolate-themed dessert.

KABB

A festive feast of potato bacon chowder, pan-seared sea scallop salad, a choice between Christmas turkey, grilled angust beef rib-eye steak or pan-seared Norwegian salmon filet and to finish, a dark chocolate cake. RMB388/person.

MARC

Relax by the banks of the Huangpu River this Christmas Eve with a French-Style candlelight dinner at MARC restaurant and club. Crafted by Michelin-starred chef Marc Meneau, the menu includes oyster in seawater jelly, Wellington beef and other delicate offerings. The dinner is priced at RMB2,888 for two persons including two goblets of Perrier-Jouet or RMB4,988 for two persons including wine pairings. The above prices are subject to a 10-percent service charge and 6-percent VAT.

Maya & Mayita

If you’re in need of respite from the regular Christmas turkey spread, we’d recommend checking out the Mexican-inspired dinners at both Maya and sister restaurant Mayita. For RMB295 per person, they’re offering roasted chestnut soup with chorizo and pepitas; crispy cod bacalao, chipotle rubbed turkey with poblano mash and roasted carrots, and jalapeno cornbread stuffing with mole gravy. The price also includes a welcome drink and dessert, and management tells us special non-spicy kids menus are available by pre-booking.

Mercato

Celebrate Christmas with Mercato’s signature sharing style menu and simple, elegant modern Italian cuisine. The Christmas sharing style dinner is RMB598 per person plus a 10-percent service charge.

The special Christmas menus are available December 24th and 25th and advance booking is required. Cupola on the 7th floor has an 8 course dinner for RMB10,000 and includes one bottle of champagne, wine pairing, violin session and flowers. POP, also on the 7th floor, has a 4 course Christmas dinner for RMB588 per person from 6.30-11pm and includes one glass of champagne. 6th floor Mercato offers a RMB598 per person dinner with a minimum of 2 guests required. Whampoa Club on the 5th floor offers a special menu for RMB588 per person. Jean-Georges on the 4th floor has a 6 course festive menu for RMB1,498 per person, available from 5.30-10pm.
