It came as a shock to many, therefore, when state-run Beijing Youth Daily put out an article last week claiming that IKEA was banning in-store napping. However, IKEA representatives have since come forth to dispel these claims.
"I would like to emphasize here, there is no new rule to ban customers sleeping on IKEA products in IKEA stores," a China-based spokeswoman said.

IKEA made it clear that customers are encouraged to try out the products, but that if guests' actions or sleeping antics disturb other shoppers they will be politely asked to stop. Customers of all ages find comfort in the warm, loving embrace of a Svelvik bed with matching Skogn cushions, but employees have had difficulty in the past confronting them when their snoozing reaches excessive length.
Save the few overbearing powernappers, though, it seems IKEA's customers are once again free to drop 'til they shop.
