Guan Quanzhi is a lucky man: He is now RMB520,000 richer and has a trump-card story to tell at any dinner party. And all he had to do was get bit by an angry wild panda to do it.

Local officials spotted a panda roaming through their village of Liziba, Gansu Province last year, and chased it through the town and onto Guan's land. When he came out to see the commotion, China's adorable mascot leaped from the mud and clamped its cute little fangs into Guan's leg.

The animal refused to let go of the leg, and was only subdued after another villager managed to get a coat around its head. The panda escaped unharmed.

Guan needed seven hours of surgery to mend his chomped-up leg, and ultimately sued his local government for more than RMB500,000, citing their inability to control the animal. He won the suit this week.
