A group of 13 flight attendants have filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Labor, saying that they were illegally fired after they didn't want to fly on a Hong Kong-bound United plane that had been graced with two goofy finger paintings.
"Bye Bye," along with one smiley, pineapple-like face and one face described by an attendant as "devilish," were enough to make the attendants think twice before agreeing to fly along. The attendants thought there may be a security issue with the plane but, according to the South China Morning Post, "the airline refused to deplane the passengers and conduct a security inspection."
The attendants were still spooked, and refused to take part in the flight until the plane was checked, saying that the drawings were potentially "threatening." United Airlines, in a move of utmost tact, promptly fired all of them and cancelled the flight.
The plane never arrived in Hong Kong, and no security threat was ultimately linked to the drawings.
