Every teacher at a middle school in Yunnan Province went on a strike this Tuesday after two incidents of teachers being beaten by students occurred within two weeks, The Paper reports.

According to a notice issued by the school stating that classes were cancelled until further notice, a female head teacher was “publicly humiliated” by students two weeks ago, and a few days afterward eighth grade students beat up a female history teacher.

The students were said to have merely been sent home to be “educated.”

An online post by students disclosed that the history teacher who had been beaten by four students was left with an orbital fracture. It also reads: “students in many classes all want the teachers to come back and resume teaching."

The education bureau of Ludian County is reported to be investigating these attacks against teachers.
