A flight attendant with Shanghai Airlines released an inflatable evacuation slide accidentally (sureee…) after landing at Hongqiao International Airport yesterday.

The crew member on the flight from Beijing had intended to open the aircraft door, but released the slide by mistake, the airline said.

“Luckily, no passengers fell onto the slide and slid down to the ground,” said Zhu - possibly the world’s most boring passenger.

A stair truck was dispatched to allow the passengers to get off the airplane and another vehicle made the return flight.

While a slide inflates within seven seconds, it can take at least four days for four crew members to fold and pack it away, said Zhao Gangfeng, a senior aircraft maintenance engineer with China Eastern.

Wait, did he say four days?!

At Hongqiao Airport, China Eastern staff check 40 escape slides a month, which would amount to 160 days of folding, according to Zhao’s statistics….

Anyway, we've got another theory with regards the release of the slide yesterday, given the arrival of the plum rain...

“We are about to begin our final descent to Hongqiao International Airport. The weather here in Shanghai is overcast with heavy rain which can only mean one thing… SLIP'N’SLIIIIDDDEEEE!!!”
