'Delirious' Hong Kong designer jumps naked to her death following plastic surgery

A Hong Kong jewellery designer plunged to her death on January 22 from the top floor of a Californian plastic surgery clinic.

53 year old Sandra d'Auriol, a British citizen who had lived in Hong Kong for over 30 years, had recently undergone a facelift at the clinic in the Camden Medical Arts building. She reportedly awoke at 7am "aggressive and agitated" and proceeded to the roof, where, completely naked, she sat for over three hours, occasionally humming and singing.

d'Auriol is believed to have been suffering from post-operative delirium, a neurological condition that can last for weeks in some cases, causing aggressive behaviour and delusions.

"The mind boggles that Sandra was able to overpower a nurse, outrun a security guard and find her way two floors up to the roof in an office building which we've been told has no high fencing. We are appalled," brother-in-law Guy d'Auriol told reporters last week.

"However, this is not a matter for us, this is a matter for the police to investigate," d'Auriol said. "While we realise nothing is going to bring back Sandra, we feel her tragedy will help raise awareness, that it could possibly save others."

A spokesperson for the Beverley Hills Police Department has confirmed that they are investigating the death.
