Adorable pictures of a baby girl dressed as a mermaid, which coincide with the release of Steven Chow's The Mermaid, have recently gone viral on the Chinese interwebs. The Spring Festival blockbuster — which has so far earned a whopping RMB3.3 billion — became China's highest grossing film of all time and is one of the few films ever to gross more than USD500 million in one territory. That list also includes Star Wars: The Force Awakens (USD928.8 million), Avatar (USD749.8 million), Titantic (USD600.8 million), Jurassic World (USD652 million), The Avengers (USD623.4 million) and The Dark Knight (USD533.3 million)

IMDB describes the plot of the film as "a business tycoon [falling] in love with the beautiful mermaid sent to kill him after his latest project kills many of her people."
