It's been a big week for disturbing meat news in China. After the discovery in Hunan of rotting meat dating back to the 1970s made headlines around the world, a chunk of meat has now gone viral after a woman in Shandong Province posted a video of a raw slab of beef that appears to be pulsating.
Here's the video in all its gory, glistening glory:

And just in case you want to watch that meat shake its thang in an eternal loop, we made a GIF. You're welcome.
State media CCTV News picked up the video and went as far as to issue a trigger warning, cautioning that "the images may not be suitable for some viewers." (They also opted for a very incongruent choice of score...)
According to health experts the twitching is simply the nerves of the meat going off one last time before the erstwhile cow finally gives up for good.
Indeed, several viewers commented that the twitching was "a sign of freshness."
Others countered that couldn't be the case:
"In a piece of meat that has been separated from the animal for at least several minutes if not hours. You don't even need the most basic understanding of anatomy and biology to know that is simply not possible."
Here are a few of our favorite comments:
“Pulsating steak, just off the cow. If you don’t hold it down in the frying pan, it will try to escape.”
“It’s twerking.”
“Maybe you’ll get immortality if you eat it.”
“That’s Chinese-made beef right there.”
“Neurotoxin?”
“Is that even really beef to begin with?”
“Beef Odorigui!”
“It’s like something out of Silent Hill.”
