Construction of Shanghai’s Metro Line 14, the last big subway network to pass through the downtown area, will begin early next month.
The Shanghai Daily report the new 39 kilometer line (seen below in dark blue) will have 31 stations spread across five districts - Jiading, Putuo, Jing’an, Huangpu and Pudong New Area - and connect to a whopping 15 other lines, including at Pudong Avenue, Lujiazui, Yuyuan Garden and Jing’an Temple stations.
As per current plans, 49 eight-carriage trains will be put into use when the line starts operation in 2020. It will operate from 5am to 11pm, and is expected to ferry around 800,000 passengers per day.
