The 16th annual Shanghai Book Fair is officially on right now! Head over to Shanghai Exhibition Center from now until August 20 for a seven-day reading extravaganza.
To celebrate the 2019 Shanghai Book Fair, Jing’an Kerry Centre will also be hosting a special book-themed event from August 2-20 in conjunction with the Shanghai Press and Publishing Bureau, Modern Bookstore and Shanghai Translation Press.
During the 2019 JAKC Bookfair, there will be a main stage area located on the B1 floor with a public book display, featuring books from well-known domestic and international publishing houses. Visitors will be able to peruse through books and even borrow them to read. Don’t miss the book exchange party!
Head up to the L1 floor to see a dream-like art installation inspired by the works of famous author E. B. White. To mark the 120th anniversary of White’s birth, the installation features classic art from his beloved children’s books, including Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little.
On the L2 floor, you’ll find an interactive art installation inspired by the works of author Haruki Murakami. Visitors can listen to excerpts from Murakami’s classic novel Norwegian Wood and create their own immersive reading experience.
For the little ones, there are plenty of fun activities planned, including a children’s book club. Visit the KerryOn Living Room on L4 to join in on educational and exploration activities.
Each of the art installations and exhibits are designed with the environment in mind. All materials will be recycled at the end of each activity, while every piece uses sustainable materials. Additionally, bookworms can head over to the public book shelf and bring along their own second-hand books.
You’ll be able to hear from famous authors, too. Jing’an Kerry Centre will be collaborating with Shanghai Translation Publishing House for the first time to invite young artists Wang Congyi, Zhang Zhaoying and Zhu Xi to discuss their popular literary works.
Throughout the month of August, Jing’an Kerry Centre will also be joining hands with many partners to bring 35 themed activities, including talks, lectures and more. They’ll be inviting plenty of famous writers, authors, translators, industry experts and scholars to the stage.
In addition to the installations and activities, Jing’an Kerry Centre has prepared some special deals for visitors. Until August 20, visitors who spend at least RMB2,000 on site will receive Shanghai Book Fair tickets, free parking for two hours and a selection of books from Shanghai Translation Press.
Jing’an Kerry Centre has also partnered with 30 restaurant vendors to offer unique dining deals for families.
