Aug 17: The Bottom Line
Fans of early 2000s pop-punk like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan should not miss the Shanghai stop of The Bottom Line’s China tour. The UK band just released their newest EP, I Still Hate You, which is filled with the earnest, catchy, throwback sound they’re known for.

Aug 18: For A Minor Reflection
Icelandic post-rockers For a Minor Reflection, who have toured with Sigur Rós and played at SXSW, come to Shanghai as part of their China tour. Catch their dreamy melodies and energetic live show at Bandai Namco.

Aug 18: East Asia Shoegaze Festival
The fourth installment of this annual festival showcases shoegaze bands from around the region, including Japanese bands The Taupe, Dive and Cruyff In The Bedroom alongside U.Ta from Taiwan and Chinese bands Rubur and Tiny Enigma.

Aug 19: Future of the Left
As
one of the final pre-shows before their Concrete & Grass festival
next month, Split Works hosts a local music showcase at Yuyintang.
Featured bands include punk rock trio Lao Ayi, math rock duo Foster
Parents, and psych-rock band Mirrors from Shanghai, plus Qie from
Hangzhou.

Aug 19: Metal Karaoke
Inferno hosts a very metal karaoke night dedicated to Metallica. Those who try their hand at hitting James Hetfield’s raspy high notes can win prizes from Inferno, Vinyl Villa, Berserker, Hatsune, Shanghai Tattoo, Operation Chiin Chilla, and more.
