Jul 18: Carl Barât

Carl Barât of UK garage rockers The Libertines arrives in Shanghai for a tour with his new band, Carl Barât & the Jackals. Catch some of the guitarist-vocalist's solo material and see what he's been up to  since The Libertines' high profile dissolution at Modern Sky. Check out our interview with Barât here.
Jul 18, 8.30pm, RMB330 presale, RMB400 door. Modern Sky Lab, see event listing.

Jul 19: Mocktail Galaxy: New Dimensions in Zero ABV

Shake bartender Colin Tait has whipped up a menu of mocktails with premium ingredients to let you party and enjoy some live music without the accompanying hangover. Courtney Knott and The Shanghai Sheiks play live funk and soul all night, and cocktails are all half off for those determined to booze.
Jul 19, 6pm, no cover. Shake, see event listing.

Jul 19: Jiafeng

Shanghai-based musician and media artist Jiafeng brings his unique mix of live saxophone and vaporwave beats to Arkham. Expect intriguing, genre-defying music and supercuts of bizarre online videos. DJ Dopey, Li Laoban, and Yung Min provide support.
Jul 19, 10pm, RMB80 presale, RMB100 door. Arkham, see event listing.

Jul 21: Lemonade: A Night of Beyoncé

201807/lemonade.jpg

Shake’s resident singer Courtney Knott and their seven-piece band spend the next two Saturday nights devoted to the Queen herself: Beyoncé. Expect original takes on Bey’s greatest hits, plus some classic highlights and lesser-known deep cuts from her albums. No Beyoncé tribute would be complete without a Lemonade cocktail menu, so vodka-based chai, cherry and coconut lemonade are also on offer.
Jul 21 & Jul 28, 9pm-late, RMB80 presale, RMB100 door. Shake, see event listing.

Jul 22: Brasil in Trio

Zilong Brazil, a new promotion company from Ale Amazonia of Shanghai Punk band Dirty Fingers, holds their first tour with bossa nova group Brasil in Trio. Active since 2007, they have an innovative take on traditional Brazilian genres like Choro, Samba, Maxixe, Maracatu, and Bossa-Nova. Additional performances on July 24 at Shake Club and July 25 at Coffee Coneo.
Jul 22, 9pm, RMB60 presale, RMB80 door. Yuyintang, see event listing.
