Ponte

When we heard Annie's was preparing to launch a new fine-dining concept under the name Ponte, we were a bit skeptical. Annie’s strength has always been its ability to offer a unique quality-to-price ratio, offering authentic Italian food, prepared by Italian chefs, to all kinds of clients. But could it ever go upscale? Turns out, it can, but all while retaining Annie's family-friendly and approachable vibe.

The mall-dwellers, Mediterranean cuisine veterans at Tiago just opened Keaami, their very first venture into Thai cusine. Tiago’s take on Thai is carefree, colorful and hip. With vibrant couches, crocodile prints and bamboo details all over, from a distance it looks like someone dropped buckets of paint on the dull Chaoyang Joy City corridors. But far from being overwhelming, Keaami’s attire looks so fresh and compelling, it begs you to enter and peek at the menu.

It’s the middle of winter, which means any meal that is hot and spicy is exactly what the doctor ordered. Nemo&Bu has that covered with lots of spice (malatang) and everything nice (cat-friendly!).

Fang Bar

The Other Place is getting crowded. Hutong hipsters can now celebrate a new addition to the stacked lineup after El Nido and Taco Stop: Fang Bar of Fangjia past. The cool cocktail establishment quietly took over the empty shack of bar space across the courtyard and is back to slinging eccentric craft creations.
