Riding a bus in Beijing is not typically an experience one looks forward to – until now.

The Beijing Chaoyang Gourmet Sightseeing Bus is offering the city's first mobile restaurant experience in collaboration with Wolfgang’s Steakhouse – a renowned Michelin-starred and Black Pearl-awarded restaurant.

Guests will enjoy a unique culinary experience with dual stimulation of sight and taste during a 40km, 360-degree panoramic scenic tour on a luxurious double-decker bus that features a glass roof and large windows for a dreamy nighttime experience.

The lower deck is equipped with a kitchen, wine cooler, and restroom, while the upper deck features a stunning dining area with wooden tables and crystal-clear windows.

There are eight tables – four two-person tables and four four-person tables (but don’t worry, single person bookings are allowed).

The menu currently includes a bread basket, homemade potato chips, beef barley soup, and a Caesar salad with sizzling, thick bacon as starters.

For the main course, you can choose between a slow-cooked Angus chuck roll or a New York sirloin steak – both are served with mashed potatoes and sauteed broccoli.

For dessert, finish off your meal with New York cheesecake and seasonal fresh fruit.

Most importantly, guests enjoy two hours of all-you-can-drink imported red and white wine, soft drinks, beer, freshly ground coffee, and British black tea. There is also a limited supply of mulled wine

There is also a second gourmet sightseeing tour in the works that will take you on a 22km route through the northern section of the Beijing Central Axis that will pass through Guloudongdajie, the Drum Tower, Beitucheng, and Olympic Park.

This route, which will feature Chinese cuisine, is still completing its trial runs and is expected to launch later this year.

The tour meets at the China Trade Center at 6.45pm and the bus departs at 7pm, taking between two to three hours depending on traffic (but you can expect to return around 9pm).

You must book at least 24 hours in advance and refunds must be requested 48 hours prior to departure.

If you are bringing an infant, they ask that you inform them in advance to make sure they can accommodate you and your child. Children over the age of 12 must pay the adult fare of RMB680 per person.

As their slogan says: “Let your taste buds, eyes and soul travel together!”
