Cocoro: Coffee and Cookies On-the-Go in Guomao

If you happen to be wandering around Jianwai SOHO in Guomao looking for a quick fix, look no further than Cocoro. The takeaway spot keeps things simple with menu items including coffee and... cookies.

The cookies (three for RMB20) are more like cookie bites - though delicious nonetheless, with a distinct "home-style" taste. We are told there is usually a variety of cookie flavors, though when we visit only two are available: matcha and white chocolate chunk and chocolate chunk.

Both varieties have an oaty texture, making the bites seem kind of healthier than the typical cookie. Our only gripe is the price seems a little expensive for the size of the cookies.

The coffee (RMB16-25) also hits the spot. We try an iced latte (RMB23) and it is heavenly. Sure, it's a sweltering day and we just finished a workout class, but the coffee is still good. As well as the standard coffee types (espresso, cappuccino, flat white etc), Cocoro also has a couple of "specialty flavors": hot chocolate and iced strawberry latte. The most expensive options on the menu (RMB25), the specialty flavors are also arguably the best-looking (although we haven't tried them, yet).

Cocoro makes use of its small size with a slick design and accessible cafe front.
