Dec 5-18: A Christmas Carol
A family-friendly event, Beijing Playhouse’s performance of A Christmas Carol: A Twisted Musical Comedy is set to warm your cold winter hearts with wacky laughs and fun performances. Plus, spectators are encouraged to cheer (or hiss) during the play. Basically, your kids will love it. Performed in English with Mandarin subtitles.

Dec 6: Comedy Night
Beijing’s comedy scene is positively thriving and it only gets better, thanks to a new comedy night called... ‘Comedy Night’ (we can only hope the jokes are more imaginative). Brought to us by the seasoned jokers at Comedy Club China, expect outrageous laughs, funny people and – thanks to East Beijing – killer drinks and grub.

Dec 9: Mini North Korean Film Festival
As part of their mini North Korean film fest, The Bookworm will be screening Dennis Rodman’s Big Bang in Pyongyang (2015) on Friday evening. Remember that time when Rodman took a team of former-NBA players to North Korea to play a friendly game of basketball? Yeah, so do we. Well, in case you don’t know the whole story, this film offers a fascinating glimpse into Rodman’s friendship with Kim Jong Un and what really happened during this controversial trip to North Korea.

Dec 9-11: Penny's x Brewdog Christmas Doggie Cafe Pop-up at Ramo
Brewdog, Penny's Food Studio and Ramo partnering up this holiday season to bring you a Christmas Doggie Cafe pop up at Ramo. Relax with a couple of brews and some awesome food – and bring your furry friends with you. Plus you can sample the new release Ace of Hops Chinook, Punk IPA and Dead Pony Club. Your pups can gnaw on Penny's warm beef jelly and other treats, so they won’t feel left out.

Dec 11: Fangjia Hutong Christmas Market
Fangjia Hutong is a great place to do a little holiday shopping, especially so on Sunday December 11. There will be 30 holiday-themed vendors scattered around. Shopping aside, there will be tons of performance artists, street food, hot drinks and arts and crafts on site. The event is absolutely free, but you can buy tickets for RMB120 which will get you RMB200 worth of food, drinks and other items from six locations: Fang Bar, El Nido, Cartoccio, Ramo, Mimi e Coco and Hot Cat Club. You’ll also get an RMB20 voucher to use at any stand at the market. Tickets are available at all six locations or you can call 13718163726 or use WeChat ID: antoinepicot.
