So you guys got really excited when we wrote about places to drink outside last month. Not to brag (cue bragging), but our list of Beijing’s best outdoor bars got mad hits. And therefore, we've decided to continue the trend with a roundup of the best places to eat outside in Beijing. The only thing better than being outside on a nice day is eating outside on a nice day.
TiensTiens
Our new favorite when it comes to baguettes and French pastries, TiensTiens has a gorgeous rooftop in Sanlitun’s Courtyard Four.
Tanhua Roast Lamb Leg
This place is so damn al fresco that e-bikes whip past us just a few inches from our table. And that (plus the immaculate roast lamb, of course) is what makes it quintessential hutong dining.
Taco Bar
Nothing says summer like tacos on the terrace. And margs.
The Rug (Chaoyang Park)
The Rug is lazy weekend brunch central. Better yet – the team at The Rug can make you a picnic basket and drive you and your date personally to the nearby park.
Capital M
Capital M’s iconic view over Tiananmen Square is a take-your-parents here kind of view. Or a get-down-on-one-knee here kind of view. Or just a have-a-few-glasses-of-wine here kind of view. Long story short: It’s a great view.
Toast (The Orchid Gulou)
The Orchid’s small, quiet rooftop is a brunch haven. (We do mean small, though, so reserve your table ahead of time.)
See a listing here and a full review here.
Moka Bros (CBD)
Hot new terrace alert: Moka Bros’ newest, CBD location has a patio surrounded by lush greenery – all the better for you to eat some greenery of your own.
Maison FLO
Brasserie FLO may have just changed its name to Maison FLO, but its elegant garden remains the same.
Cantina Agave
One major difference between Beijing and Shanghai: There are fewer bonafide rooftops to eat on here. (Beijing’s more of a courtyard city.) The rooftop at Cantina Agave is an exception.
Great Leap Brewpub #45
Long, wooden tables and some of Beijing’s best pizzas make GLB’s Liangmaqiao location perfect for large groups and families.
Dali Courtyard
Eat some of Beijing’s best Yunnan food in one of Beijing’s best courtyards.
