According to de Sarthe gallery: "The title of the exhibition “The Bro Generation” is a comment on the state of life for China’s current migrant generation, of which the members of Double Fly feel they belong. Unlike previous generations, the members of Double Fly, born after 1980, are all only children due to China’s one-child policy. They experienced the transformation of Chinese society, and witnessed the rise of the Internet as well as a cultural opening. Along with this transformation came an increase in mobility for the population. This meant that after a short experience of collective life in schools, which were not unlike large homes, many Chinese began to travel for jobs or further education, thereby encountering new groups of people in new places. In this sense in particular, the members of Double Fly resemble the migrant workers who move from one construction site to another, living with people that are perceived as new “brothers”."
