The 11 F&B Events You Should Hit Up This Week

That's Shanghai takes a look at some of the week's best upcoming F&B events: 


Nov 28: Young Master Tap Takeover

Stone Brewing is inviting Young Master Brewery, “Hong Kong's largest, highest rated, and most awarded craft brewery" for a tap takeover and brewers session at the tap room. Young Master draws inspiration from the flavors of Hong Kong, crafting beers like the tart and saline Cha Chaan Teng Gose, brewed with local salted lime. They’ll be bringing 10 beers for the tap takeover. Attendees will also get a chance to meet Young Master founder Rohit Dugar, head brewer Edwin Yang, and lead brewer Tom Hanson from 5-11pm on November 28. Beers will be on tap all day long and will be priced individually. No entry fee.

Nov 28: Papi Chulo Night

It's time for another legendary installment of Tomatito's Papi Chulo Night. This month's Papi is Pascal from STYX, and he'll be sharing stories with you via RMB15 pintxos while  Helena from Crimson Pangolin and Magnus from Tall Brothers are providing the gin and tonic, respectively.

Nov 29: Pelikan & Peddlers v. 3

Chef Kasper is at it again with his third Gin pairing menu. This masterful pairing of Nordic cuisine and craft gin is in collaboration with homegrown craft gin distillers, Peddlers Gin Go. There's limited seating, so call up and book your table now.

Nov 29: Oysters & Gin

Global, Sarment and Le Bouchon team up for a festival of Gillardeaux, Faye,  Ancellin, Prat Ar Coum oysters served with French Citadelle Gin. Just make sure to RSVP, because quantities are limited and this is bound to be good eats and drinks.

Nov 30-Dec 2: Jing'an Christmaskindlmrkt

You'll know from the mingled scents of baked apples, chestnuts, gingerbread,  mulled wine, rum punch and tasty food filling the air that the traditional German Christkindlmarkt (Christmas Market) is back in Shanghai. Head over to Zeitgeist to experience the wonderful wintertime charm of the old world at this festive market.

Nov 30: UP Grand Opening

This Friday, Jing'an's newest cocktail lounge is open for business, so head over if you like the sound of an 'uptown vibe with your local crowd.' They promise great food, better cocktails and the best crowd. Run by a team that knows quite a bit about having fun in Shanghai, we look forward to checking out their quality crafted cocktails and American (with Asian hints) street food.

Nov 30-Dec 1: Simone's Food & Firewater

London calling to the faraway towns! This weekend, Chef Simone Thompson (previously of London’s Barrica and The Marksman) is running a pop-up at Egg with her own takes on late night London grub. Simone’s Food & Firewater pays homage to the feel-good-food revered by chefs, shift workers and club-goers alike.

Dec 2: Pilipala Big Bird Grand Opening Party

Does this freezing weather have you down in the dumps? The way to happiness is through your stomach, so warm your tummy with a Yunnan turkey feast. The lemongrass infused turkey will be served with your favorite Yunnan granny mashed potatoes and grilled goat cheese. There's also free-flow mulled wine.

Dec 3: Burger Night

The only thing better than burgers is burgers plus beer and Bird has got you covered in both departments. The return of Bird's Monday Burger Night is completed by the launch of Jing A's Mandarin Wheat. This Belgian witbier pours sunny straw gold with an impressively fluffy head. As you take sip after smooth sip, you will appreciate the balance of sweetness mingled with bright mandarin orange and zesty coriander. Combo and a la carte options available for takeaway or dining in. Did we mention there's a veggie burger?

Every Sat & Sun: Funkadeli x Austin Hu Brunch

Funkadeli has once again partnered up with Chef Austin Hu for a new Italian-inspired brunch menu. Mains include poached eggs with smoked pancetta, spicy chicken diavola, smoked salmon and avocado toast, chicken cotoletta, pumpkin ravioli, and beef tartare. Sides include pumpkin soup, roasted romanesco broccoli, and vegetable crudo. New desserts include a spiced apple cake. If you are feeling crazy add on free-flow starting from RMB128.
