Liaoning bank robber’s getaway foiled by humongous swag bag

An armed robber making his getaway in Huludao, Liaoning Province was arrested because his swag bag — filled with RMB1.77 million in cash — was too heavy for him to carry off.

CCTV footages shows the bandit, surnamed Luan, struggling to load the booty onto the motorcycle he had bought just for the robbery attempt, failings on both goes.

The cash, which he had just made off with from the bank, was comprised of both bills and coins and weighed in at over 85 kilograms.

Luan shot a bank teller in the leg with a gun he'd purchased in Chengdu; fortunately, it jammed when he attempted to shoot again.

During his failed escape, Luan was shot by police and is now being treated in hospital.

According to the police, Luan committed stole the money in order to pay his mortgage.
