PLA jet crashes into Chengdu apartment during test flight

A People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) fighter crashed down in Sichuan capital Chengdu's Pi County yesterday afternoon

The jet, said to be a J-10B prototype, smashed into a residential compound at a bout 2pm, injuring seven. After striking the newly constructed building, the aircraft then plunged into an artificial lake within the compound.

Chengdu Military Command still have not confirmed the incident and refuse to comment on the conditions the victims, although three are reportedly in critical condition. The pilot ejected successfully and parachuted down to safety.
