Shanghai Shark's Jimmer Fredette Reaches Deal With NBA Team

Shanghai Sharks guard Jimmer Fredette looks to be making an NBA comeback tour.

The three-point specialist has reached a two-year deal with the Phoenix Suns (17-55), which includes a team option on the second year of the deal, according to sources from ESPN and the Salt Lake Tribune.

Jimmer and the Sharks were knocked out of the playoffs earlier this week by the Beijing Ducks, losing both games in a three-game series. The Shanghai squad were lucky to make the playoffs this season, coming in as the 12th and final seed, despite Fredette’s season-long heroics as the team’s number one scoring option.

After three years of terrorizing opponents at Pudong Yuanshen Gymnasium, Fredette left this heartfelt message at the end of the season on his official Weibo page.

Over the past three seasons, Jimmer has averaged 38.6, 36.9 and 36.1 points per game, which led the CBA in scoring each season. He was also named CBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2016-2017 season.

Although he’s now 30 years old, the Brigham Young University product, who was drafted 10th overall in the 2011 NBA draft, still possesses the offensive know-how to help teams score.

Phoenix will be Fredette’s fifth NBA stop after stints in Sacramento, Chicago, New Orleans and New York.

We’ll certainly miss seeing Jimmer put up god-like numbers, as he has done over the past three CBA seasons (for reference, see the time he put up 75 points in a losing effort against Beikong).
