At 7am this morning, Shenzhen's Meteorological Observatory issued its first yellow heatwave alert of the summer. Temperatures are expected to rise to 35 degrees Celsius or higher, and the alert may last for the next 4-5 days. It applies to the whole city in addition to parts of the ocean by Shenzhen's coasts.
The Meteorological Observatory advises residents to avoid staying outside for long periods of time, and to wear proper sun protection (sunbrellas, anyone?) when they do venture out.
Here's a day-by-day breakdown of upcoming weather in Shenzhen:

Combined with the usual humidity, the high temps will feel especially sweltering.
Meanwhile, Guangzhou is still undergoing its own heat wave. A yellow alert was issued on June 3 for the city. On the same day, one area in Zengcheng District clocked in at 37.4C.
China has three levels of heatwave alerts; yellow is the lowest. An orange alert warns of temperatures 37C and up, while a red alert is reserved for 40C or higher.
