By the end of the year Shanghai's Chongming Island will be one easy Metro line away.

Linking between Pudong's Jinqiao area to Chongming's Chenjia Town, construction will begin soon to connect the two.

Roads will also be built and upgraded to connect the new line, which will have four stops: one on Fuxing Island and three in Chenjia Town.

Director of Chongming District Transport Committee Zhang Yongheng also said that the "40 kilometer Chongming Ecological Avenue, which connects Chenjia Town to the Chengqiao area, will have lanes for buses and bicycles."
