China to Bring More Precipitation with RMB1.15 Billion Weather Control System

More snow and rain coming to the Mainland? Under a new RMB1.15 billion weather alteration plan, that just might happen.

China is currently taking advantage of technology that modifies the weather, such as generating rain during times of drought, reducing hail and clearing skies prior to the nation's largest international events (such as the Beijing Olympics back in 2008).

The upcoming project (scheduled to be completed in three years) involves developing four new planes, eight enhanced aircrafts, 897 rocket-launching devices and a near two thousand devices used to connect digital control systems.

'Cloud seeding' is a method used by many countries, including China, to bring rain in times of severe drought by using a catalyst to spur the release of precipitation. Under the new plan there would be an increase of precipitation in an area of 960,000sqm.

Time to Make. It. Rain.
