Shanghai Cracking Down on Food Delivery Services

Shanghai's food delivery services might soon be cracking down on stricter regulations with the companies they work - or don't work - with.

According to a draft bill by the Shanghai People's Congress, companies will need to ensure that their advertised eateries have solid licensing. The delivery providers will also be required to carry out regular random checks to ensure food safety.

Suppliers must be registered under a real business name and their licensing details must also be put online. If not, the delivery services could be fined up to RMB200,000, along with their licenses getting revoked in cases of food poisoning.

The delivery service providers will also have need to ensure their staff have health certificates and their dishware and wrapping used for deliveries is up to food safety standards.

And the biggest crackdown: if licenses do get revoked, eatery owners will be banned from reapplying for five years.

For our lazy Sunday mornings and hangover cures, fingers crossed that everyone is in solid standing order.
