Foshan’s Sanshui District is hopping on the clean energy bus, literally, with the deployment of 12 fuel cell-powered buses.

Measuring 11 meters in length, the buses will operate on the No. 682 route, from Gaofeng Park Station to Shuidu Industrial Park Station, and will be managed by Sanshui Guohong Public Transit Co. Ltd.

According to a press release by Ballard Power Systems, the Vancouver company that built the buses, the vehicles will have a transport range of over 300 kilometers and expected hydrogen gas consumption of less than 6.5 kilograms per 100 kilometers.

The new public transporters will have an 80-person capacity and will not require catenary wires or on-route recharging.

"We are moving the cities of Foshan and Yunfu into the future by adopting zero-emission fuel cell buses that have long range, fast refueling and outstanding passenger comfort,” said Mr. Xu Guo, Vice Mayor of the City of Foshan/Yunfu. We expect additional routes to be commissioned in the coming months."
