Qinghai Lake, also known as 'the saphire on plateau,' is China's largest salt-water lake, covering 4,400 square kilometers.

While most cities in eastern China welcome spring when the cherry blossoms and peach trees bloom, the season is said to start in Qinghai when the lake's ice melts. These incredible aerial photos, captured in March, indicate that the season arrived nearly a month earlier than expected.
