Photography lovers, be sure to catch the art exhibition at Residence G until Wednesday! The exhibit features French photographer Paul Verdun, who was a pioneer photographer in the late 19th century and early 20th century. His hobby took him across France and Europe, leaving behind hundreds of black-and-white photos depicting scenes of daily life. In the early days of photography, photos were mostly printed on glass. Paul Verdun used a piece of special equipment called verascope, one of the first 3-D viewers. There will also be oil paintings on display by Zhang Xiaowen, well-known as a Chinese oil painting artist and the wife of Paul Verdun’s great-grandson. Zhang Xiaowen recreated these black-and-white photos with her incredible toning skills and brought them back to life in full color.
