October 17: Free Nelson Mandoomjazz

A trio originally from Scotland, Free Nelson Mandoomjazz offers audiences a unique mix of jazz from the 50s, free jazz from the late 60s, elements of baroque and classical chamber music and doom rock metal.

October 18: MUSICMUSICMUSIC & "Ming-Wu-Xu" Trio

Three extraordinary jazz musicians make up MUSICMUSICMUSIC. The group has become widely acclaimed for their refreshing lack of respect, humoristic features and intimate live performances and has reached out to audiences far beyond the traditional borders of jazz music.

October 19: Bänz Oester and The Rainmakers

A Swiss-South African band, The Rainmakers includes the internationally acclaimed bassist Bänz Oester. Their performances show a deep appreciation for African culture and are not to be missed!

October 20: Otomo Yoshihide and Yoshigaki Yasuhiro Duo

Otomo Yoshihide has composed a wide range of music, but on his October 20 stop in Shenzhen he will be showing off his grasp of Japanese-style jazz. Joining him will be Yoshigaki Yasuhiro, a Japanese jazz drummer and percussionist. In the 2000s, he performed with Otomo Yoshihide and bassist Bill Laswell, recording several albums under the name Soup.

October 21: Mothra & Men I Trust

Monthra explores electroacoustic territory extending the sonic possibilities of their instruments with effects, loops and live electronics. They will be followed by Canadian band Men I Trust, who will undoubtedly provide a superb show.

October 22: Shenzhen International Chess Open Tournament 2016

The Chess Open Tournament is returning! This year it will have six rounds and the top winners will have a chance to play simultaneous games with world champions Ye Jiangchuan and Liu Shilan.

October 22: British Day

Organized by the British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong and supported by Shenzhen Shekou International School, British Day is back this autumn bringing delicious British snacks to the Shenzhen public. There will be activities and performances during the 2016 Shenzhen British Day and all nationalities are welcome at the celebration.

October 22: SCF 8th Annual Captivating Charity Auction

The Shenzhen Charity Federation Eighth Annual Captivating Charity Auction will be held in Futian Shangri-La Hotel on October 22. Captivating works to educate girls, end poverty and put a stop to human trafficking. With your support, 1,000 girls in China and many of their families will have better lives this year.

October 22: MONO Requiem for Hell

October 23: Sebastian Schunke Group

Founded in Berlin, the Sebastian Schunke Group has been an energetic part of the international jazz scene since 2012. The Latin Jazz Network selected their 2011 album Life and Death as one of the best CDs of the year and called the band the “most innovative Latin jazz band” in the world.
