It seems that not a month goes by without an incident onboard a Chinese plane - this month is no different.
Last week, three passengers, on a China Southern Airlines flight from Shenzhen to Shanghai, landed themselves in hot water with law enforcement after they refused to leave business class seats that they didn’t pay for.
The incident began when the flight was delayed for three hours, due to bad weather, which caused a number of passengers to snag themselves larger, comfier business class seats instead of their assigned economy seating.
The disruptive travelers assumed they were eligible to sit in business class, as it would be ‘fair compensation’ for the delay, according to the Daily Mail.

After some persuasion most of the rebellious passengers meandered to the back of the plane to their assigned seating, but three dug in and refused to go. It turns out this was a mistake.
Although the defiant passengers were allowed to remain in business class, they were promptly arrested by Shanghai police upon the planes landing.
According to airline spokespersons, it turns out there is more to self-upgrading your seat than just being a jerk. Every plane must sustain an even distribution of passengers to limit the risk of crashing (which it turns out is more likely if people start hopping from seat to seat), according to Want China Times.
