Sep 6: Popasuda

Popasuda welcomes another installment of wicked sounds from around the world. Skinny Brown hits the decks for another epic eight-hour set with stacks of music spanning genres and continents, all built for the dancehall. Expect Ugandan techno, custom cut reggae and dancehall, the newest GQOM sounds out of Durban, South Africa, and tons of bassed up remixes from Brazil to Botswana.

Sep 6: Social Practice Vol. 3

Are they called THUVDR or Out of Fashion Boys, or both? Regardless of this confusion, this clique of DJs and producers are on the more exciting getting it done in Beijing at the moment. They take a trip to Shanghai and ALL this weekend, with XDD, IKKE, 1ster and 兔兔 (Rabbit Rabbit?) taking to the decks.

Sep 6: Intergalactic Gary

Inspiring such phrases as “D’you know my mate Gary? He’s intergalactic!” Dutch DJ Intergalactic Gary comes to Elevator this week in collaboration with Berlin and Singapore label Midnight Shift. The Italo, techno and electro legend will infuse the dancefloor with the groove that you need in your life. Joining him on the evening will be Heatwolves, Theory of Noise and Little Trumpet.

Originally from Seattle, this record slinger continues to wow global audiences with his peerless skills behind the decks.

Sep 6: MadeInTYO

Atlanta rapper MadeInTYO has teamed up with the likes of Big Sean, Travis Scott, Blood Orange and A$AP Ferg (who will also be hitting Arkham at the end of the this month), garnering praise and fans a-plenty along the way. His debut album Sincerely, Tokyo exhibits a fascination with Asian culture, while his track ‘Ned Flanders’ makes use of strings reminscent of the sounds you might hear in the East.

Sep 7: ShanghaiPRIDE Summer Party

Ahhh, the end of summer is approaching, but we can’t say goodbye to the best season (we all love Shanghai summer, right?) of the year without a party. ShanghaiPRIDE are here to oblige, teaming up with RIINK this Saturday for what promises to be an evening of booze, music and good vibes. What more can a person want?

All around fantastic producer Soulscape comes to Shanghai this weekend for what should be a fantastic set. Other guests on the evening will include DJ Gunknown from theBoringRoom in Xi’an, rapper NENGNEN from Hangzhou, Toxic XIMI from Xishuangbanna and organizers Tom Yeti and ollo-MAM will show up in the night for good vibes and great music.

Sep 8: Kashiwa Daisuke

No Wikipedia page, no problem. Stella Promotions are bringing Japanese composer Kashiwa Daisuke to China this month, shedding light on the internet-famous musician, whose work has gone under-appreciated for the past 15 years. Since beginning in the music game in 2004, Daisuke’s albums have gained a reputation for pushing the envelope. He combines elements of his post rock beginnings with neo classical music, electronic genres like glitch and IDM, gaining comparisons to Sigur Ros and Godspeed You! Black Emperor for his grand compositions.
