That's Shanghai takes a look at the best live shows on this week:
Jun 27: The Devils & Libido

We've heard nothing but good things about this oddly-named Japanese punk band. Not their first tour around China, The Devils & Libido have garnered a stellar reputation for putting on an excellent live show. They released a two-sided album in May of this year and combine elements of punk with math, hardcore and neon (yes, apparently that this a genre of music).
Jun 27, 8.30pm; RMB80 presale. Yuyintang. See event listing. Tickets.

Lo-fidelity post punkers The KVB bring their melancholic, romantic sounds to Yuyintang Park this weekend. They’ve been unusually active since their very first release all the way back in 2011, with their latest album, Only Now Forever, released in October of last year. Catch them for synthesized vibes a-plenty this Friday night.
Jun 28, 9pm; RMB130 presale, RMB160 door. Yuyintang Park. See event listing. Tickets.

The Pearl welcome the fantastic blues band, The Royal Hombres, who held court at the Cotton Club for 19 years. Their music blends together blues, jazz, funk and much more. They will be joined for an opening set by special guest David Stone.
Jun 28, happy hour from 6pm, show starts at 9pm; RMB120 presale, RMB150 door. The Pearl. See event listing. Tickets.
Jun 28 & 29: The Outkast Show
Flyer courtesy of promoters
Shake's six-piece band throws a party dedicated to one of the greatest hip hop duos of all time. OutKast rode in on a technicolor Cadillac from the future and changed music forever, with a vision unlike any rappers before or after. Big Boi and André 3000 mixed the spirit of funk with hip hop, techno, jazz, dub, and ATLien style, put southern rap on the map, and took hip hop to outer space and the top of the pop charts.
Jun 28 & 29, 10.30pm; RMB100. Shake. See event listing. Scan the QR code in the flyer for more details.
Jun 29: Nonsense Machines

Mayka Denki brings his fun musical show to Shanghai this month, as he makes use of robots and various contraptions to entertain audiences of all ages. This peculiar approach to stage performance and music will have you on the edge of your seat, aghast, bewildered and in fits of laughter. Don’t miss out.
Jun 29, 2/7.30pm; RMB180-680. 1862 Theater. See event listing. Tickets.
Jun 30: Psychedelic Trash Bin

LOFAS’ commendable effort to make Sundays less boring continues this weekend as they invite three fantastic bands for an evening of psychedelic, trashy and (most likely) super zany antics. With Dahlia Rosea and Domino Trigger joined on the evening by Mii, featuring notorious rockers Dee and Aming, this should be an evening to remember.
Jun 30, 8.30pm; RMB60 presale, RMB80 door. LOFAS. See event listing. Tickets.
