1862 Theatre Description

1862 Theater used to be the site of Shanghai Shipyard, developed by China State Shipbuilding Corporation and Hong Kong CITIC Limited. After remodeled by Japanese Architect, Kengo Kuma, it has become an international cultural and art center with a capacity of 800 seats. It mainly operates experimental opera, mini musical, chamber music, presentation of luxuries, fashion show, art exhibition etc. It is one of the three major theaters in Lujiazui CBD, and the other two venues are Shanghai Oriental Art Center and Shanghai Poly Grand Theater.
