Mark your calendars, compassionate-hearted readers: the 2017 edition of China’s most delicious fundraiser, Chi Fan for Charity, has been announced for November 18

The premise is a simple one: every year restaurants donate a table of 10, with all profits going toward a chosen good cause (more on that below). Diners then choose which participating restaurant they’d like to eat at – with 100 per cent of dinner ticket sales going to charity – and enjoy an exclusive multi-course meal followed by an after party with free-flow drinks, live music, dancing, a raffle and a silent auction.

Interest has already been predictably high, with only 13 tables still available – so get them quickly before it's too late.

Last year’s fundraising was a resounding success. Funds generated for Educating Girls of Rural China went toward the sponsorship of eight young women’s three-year high school expenses in Yuzhang County, Gansu Province; as well as covering the costs of 30 students’ one-year baking training as part of the Shanghai Young Bakers charity.

The selected good causes this year is the World Academy for the Future of Women, which prepares students for leadership in gender equality and social justice, and Shanghai Sunrise, a charity that focuses on raising funds for educational scholarships for underprivileged and at-risk people, in an effort to break cycles on poverty in Shanghai.

Proudly marking the fundraiser’s seventh year, Chi Fan for Charity is the largest food and beverage event for charity in Asia, with sister events having previously taken place in Beijing and Hong Kong. Set restaurant prices include a three-course meal, drinks pairings and entrance to the event where even more money can be raised for these fantastic charities where collectively the event has raised over 5.7 million RMB for over 20 diverse charities so far.
