Portuguese was recently added to cater to Brazilian families. And the latest addition has become Hindi.

"For many Indian families, the Hindi language is a vital link to their cultural roots. It carries the rich heritage of India, encompassing literature, music, and traditions that span centuries," explains Britannica School Principal Paul Farrell.

"By offering Hindi, we are not only acknowledging the cultural significance of the language but also providing a platform for students to connect with their heritage.

"This connection fosters a sense of belonging and pride, making our school a welcoming environment for families from diverse backgrounds."

At Britannica, all students receive five compulsory Mandarin lessons per week up to Year 9, with an additional two lessons for native speakers.

For students in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, there’s an option to take two extra Mandarin lessons—meaning they can access up to nine Mandarin lessons weekly.

As well as the Mandarin program, Spanish is also mandatory from Year 3 and above.

The latest milestone of 10 world languages not only enriches the curriculum at Britannica, but also reflects the school's commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and internationally-minded community.
