Sportswear chain Decathlon is recalling more than 47,000 scooters due to safety concerns, Shanghai’s city watchdog announced yesterday. The recall affects Oxelo Town 7 EF and Town 9 EF models made between December 1, 2012 and July 1, 2016.
The scooters were not designed for frequent and intensive use, and the handle bar clamp is prone to cracking and breaking. Affected consumers can bring their scooters to local Decathlon outlets, which will replace the clamp for free. If the repair fails to fix the safety issue, the company will refund consumers or provide a new scooter at no charge.
