China's streets are getting smarter, and Audi is teaming up with Huawei to make sure its tech is, too.

Rather than chasing full autonomy like some players, this partnership brings advanced assistive driving explicitly tailored for Chinese urban roads—safety, comfort, and driver control remain front and center.

Last week, Audi unveiled two flagship models: the fuel-powered A5L sedan, and Q6L e-tron SUV, both equipped with Huawei's Qiankun Intelligent Driving technology.

A System Built for Local Roads

At the core is Huawei's Qiankun driving assistantno generic software here. It's trained on real Chinese traffic data to recognize the quirks of local roads, from chaotic intersections to unpredictable weather.

The secret sauce?

A curved millimeter-wave radar featuring 4D imaging, offering a real-time, ultra-detailed picture of what's happening around the car.

Pair that with serious hardwaretwo LiDAR units, 13 cameras, six millimeter-wave radars, and a dozen ultrasonic sensorsand you've got a system built for city traffic, smooth highway rides, and tight parking spots.

Best of Both Worlds

For Audi, this latest upgrade goes beyond technology. It's a strategic move.

By blending its hallmark German engineering with Huawei's AI knowhow, Audi accelerates its smart mobility ambitions in China's fast-evolving market.

It's a smart way to stay relevant, especially when local competitors are charging ahead.

Audi captures the idea perfectly: It's intelligence with soul—technology that enhances the joy of driving, not replaces it.
