Sad news for the city's jazz cats as JZ Club announced they will moving from their Fuxing Lu location. Originally opened in 2003 on Huaihai Lu by the Shanghai Music Conservatory, JZ Club has since hosted over 8,000 jazz performances at their current Fuxing Lu home. While the last show for their current location is scheduled for May 14, other JZ plans like the May holiday JZ Spring Festival will continue to go forward.
They've also promised that they are "in the process of upgrading to a newer and larger venue to be unveiled later this year." To count down the last few weeks at their location, JZ Club will be hosting weekly jam sessions as they kick off their "Farewell to West Fuxing" festivities. Guests are also encouraged to share their favorite stories about the club for a commemmorative publication planned. For more, check out our feature on how JZ is leading Shanghai's second jazz age.
