1. L’Estetique

L'estetique

This group exhibition spotlights rising Mainland photographers Fu Yu, Lu Ning, Zou Shengwu, Wei Lai, Lu Heng, Ma Yongqiang and Zhang Yuming. Exhibition opens from 3-7pm with artists and curator Jiang Wei attending.

2. Mu Lei: Wonderment

Mu Lei: Wonderment

The Beijing-based artist creates striking portraitures that mix contemporary and conventional approaches.

3. Shao Wenhuan: And all the sounds are still

Shao Wenhuan

Hangzhou-based mixed media art presents his latest works that encompass paintings, photography, video works and a small installation that grapple with photography in a post-analog era. Opening reception on Saturday from 2-5pm. In addition, m97 Project Space hosts Fan Ho’s Into the Light starting on Sunday.

4. Zhang Enli

Zhang Enli

The Shanghai-based artist was recently featured in Yuz Museum’s MYTH/History II and enjoys great acclaim. This solo show will feature works from his ‘old tree,’ ‘line’ and ‘object’ series.

5. Zhao Gang: Cocksucker Blues

Zhao Gang: Cocksucker Blues

The youngest member of the influential Stars Group of the late 70s makes his BANK debut. Taking the Rolling Stones song as its title, Cocksucker Blues imagines all of Shanghai’s possible pasts. Also opening at BANK is New York-based multimedia artist Oliver Herring’s Areas for Action.

6. West Bund Art & Design

West Bund Art and Design

In a little over a year, the Xuhui Riverside has emerged as one of Shanghai’s most important art hubs. The forces behind the area’s redevelopment host the second edition of this festival that proclaims itself as “the first large-scale international fair in China to break the boundary between art and design.” More than 30 galleries will take over the West Bund Art Center showing off works by impressive names like Damien Hirst, Yayoi Kusama, Marina Abramović and Sean Scully. Outside, design houses like Atelier Deshaus, UNDEFINE and TM Studio have set up works across the West Bund corridor. We're giving away a pair of tickets on WeChat.
