A recurring look at what's happening at Shanghai's art galleries:
1. Kaws: Where the End Starts
Yuz Museum is the second stop in this hit career retrospective of the pop art star. The Brooklyn based artist cut his teeth in the city's grafitti scene, developing a style of remaking popular pop culture figures like The Simpsons and Mickey Mouse. KAWS has collaborated with Uniqlo on limited edition tees, remade MTV's Moonman award, designed album covers for The Clipse and recently took over Yorkshire Sculpture Park with his popular 'Companion' character.

2. Clara Feder: Garden Memories Revived
The Noeli Gallery favorite returns with a new series of digital collages that mix natural and urban environments.

3. Chen Yujun: The House Cannot Forget and The River Never Remembers
BANK and Arario Gallery team up to present this two-part exhibition from the Fujian artist. His installation The House Cannot Forget will take over BANK that showcases his drawings and video work within an abstract dwelling that touches on the urbanization (and consequential demolition) of his hometown. Arario Gallery will show The River Never Remembers - mixed media and installation works taken from his Mulan River project.

4. Wang Dawei: Loners
In Loners, Wang Dawei showcases 15 new paintings, as well as paper works that were created during his stay in America that explores the restlessness and void sometimes found in urban life.

5. SOW
ShanghART reopens ints m50 branch with this group show featuring works from Jin Yanan, Liu Yi, Xiao Longhua and Zheng Wenxin (see above). SOW stands from Spring Ocean Wave and features a variety of works spanning video to paintings, installations to sculpture.

6. James Turrell - Immersive Light
For their first major exhibition of the year, Long Museum West Bund scores a big one with this retrospective from the award-winning American artist known for his innovative work with light (which Drake famously paid tribute to in his 'Hotline Bling' video). Throughout his acclaimed decades-long career, Turrell has worked with extinct volcanoes and creating skyscapes through enclosed apertures. For more, check out our feature on Immersive Light.
