Despite the losses of Beijing’s classic underground clubs (we can still feel the sting of Dada and Lantern closing), Groundless Factory has managed to hold on and help fill the gap.
Since it opened in September of 2022, Groundless Factory has found its own niche in the city’s underground scene with its high bpm beats and avant-garde performances.

After a brief scare when they announced they would be closing their original location this past July, Groundless Factory promised to keep Beijing’s youth raging with a new location in 798.
The new venue held its grand opening last week after hosting events for a couple months during a soft opening phase. The new spot has kept the essence of Groundless Factory, although its décor is a bit less elaborate.

There are three levels, with the downstairs bar and dancefloor free of charge to enter. The main stage is on the second floor, and another bar area occupies the top level – there are plenty of places to post up.

Although 798 is a bit far from the city center, Groundless Factory makes the journey worth it with affordable drinks (RMB30 for a beer and RMB50 for a mixed drink), packed dancefloors, and unique performances.
This Saturday, August 30, you can catch a ‘Rated X’ performance with Nurs3d x Karma, which is sure to be a strange, gothic visual feast.

On September 30, Groundless Factory will be collaborating with HÖR Berlin – an influential independent digital music platform known for its live streaming of diverse electronic music in a distinctive, bathroom-like setting.
There are plenty of events to look forward to at Groundless Factory’s new post – if you haven’t checked it out already, make your way to 798 for a bit of art and a whole lot of partying.
